Gongs, singing Bowls, Healing Bowls

Yogi Bhajan used the gong extensively. While conducting regular Kundalini Yoga classes he would use gong meditations to finalize or intensify the work of the Kundalini Yoga. He would play the gong for eleven minutes and perhaps longer as he saw fit.

His quote about the gong was simple, “The gong is very simple. It is an inter-vibratory system. It is the sound of Creativity itself. The Gong is nothing more, nothing less. One who plays the gong plays the universe. The gong is not an ordinary thing to play. Out of it came all music, all sounds, and all words. The sound of the gong is the nucleus of the Word.”

In order to expand and increase the vibrational energy of the Gong, I have taken training in using quartz singing bowls and Tibetan Healing bowls. These two modalities accent and intensify the healing qualities of the Gong as utilized in Kundalini Yoga. They are separate and apart from Kundalini Yoga when used as an immersive technique to thoroughly relax the client. In this relaxed state, the body can initiate and continue the healing process of the body, mind, and spirit of the work done through yoga and meditation.

Yogi Bhajan advocated that each Kundalini Yoga & Meditation Center employ the Gong as part of the regular teaching of Kundalini Yoga.
